The Review

A while back I finally decided to take the jump and buy a range bag. I had been using a medium-sized Husky tool bag, but I could never fit everything I wanted to take with me for a day at the range. And when I added a second bag, it felt like more like I was going away on a trip. After a lot of online research and a few trips to the local gun shops, I found one that fit my needs. The Tuff Deluxe Range Bag caught my eye. It was the perfect size, exactly what I was looking for.

The Tuff Deluxe Range Bag is made from high quality double layer 1680 ballistic nylon making the bag extremely durable and easy to clean. It is very well-crafted, complete with durable stitching and YKK zippers that are built to handle most anything you can throw at it. Even under heavy use, extreme weight and over-stuffed conditions that any good range bag should be able to handle. And better yet, it’s made right here in the USA.

The main pocket in the center of the bag opens all the way exposing the entire 16″ x 11″ x 6″ (W x H x D) compartment. There are two zippers and a velcro flap which securely covers the compartment, holding everything in. The bag comes equipped with 3 removable polymer inserts. The larger one fits snugly at the bottom of the main pocket to stiffen and protect the floor of the main pocket and the 2 smaller inserts fit into thin pockets at the ends of the main pocket to provide vertical support, keeping the bag upright and open when all the pockets are fully loaded.

On both sides of the main compartment, there are two padded firearm compartments. The inserts are held in place with velcro and can easily removed. Since the compartments are padded, you can simply drop your firearms right in. As for myself, I do prefer to keep my firearms in padded soft cases that drop right into the padded compartment for some additional protection. Each of the two padded compartments have a different colored zipper allowing you to quickly locate the compartment you are looking for without having to fumble around.

On one side of the bag, the outer compartment includes 6 pockets perfectly-sized for organizing tools or holding magazines. The zippered opening opens completely to provide easy access to everything you put in there. This compartment is also deep enough to accommodate additional storage even when the 6 pockets are full.

On the other side of the bag, there are two zippered pockets staggered on the side of the bag. They are perfectly sized for sticky targets, tools and other small items you might need at the range.

The bag is equipped with dual M.O.L.L.E. end panels allowing you to expand the bag in both directions with any of the many compatible accessories.

There are two rugged webbed handles that are comfortable and easily accessible, making the bag easy to carry and maneuver even when fully loaded.

The shoulder strap is made from a 2″-wide webbed material that is very strong and well put together. It has a quick-clip to quickly adjust the strap between it’s long and short positions. In the long position, the bag easily fits over the shoulder. In the shortened position the strap is held close to the bag, keeping itself from hanging loose where it could catch on things.

 

Final Thoughts

I really do like this range bag… All of the pockets and larger compartments are easily accessible and provide plenty of room for all of my gear and then some. However, I wish that the bag had come with velcro on the two short ends of the main compartment and an adjustable velcro-attached divider to help improve on the organization.
