Danner Desert TFX Mojave Military Boot Reviewed

Posted on Jan 16, 2015

When it comes to survival, one clothing item that is all too often overlooked is a good pair of boots. Not cheap boots, good boots. I’ve had my share of cheap boots, and I’ve had some high-end boots that were actually quite expensive. In my experience, a huge disparity between their quality exists. Cheap boots are typically not constructed from quality materials or put together with a high-level of tolerance. As a result, they usually don’t fit well or last very long. One that I’ve been wearing a lot lately is Danner’s Desert TFX duty-ready military boot. Read on for more…

The other day I ran across a very unique device from Friendsville Precision that was developed specifically to simplify AR dry-fire training. The Dry Fire Device is simply a mechanism to cock the hammer without having to lose focus or break form. Any device that can mitigate the pain of cocking the hammer without having to reach for the charging handle should be welcomed with open arms, and likely will… How can I not be excited?

Since I first became interested in prepping for what may come after an apocalypse, I’ve searched high and low for simple weapons that could be used effectively for survival. Aside from having a knife and possibly a firearm on my belt, I felt that any good backup weapon would be the answer to this question: What weapon is silent to operate, can fire a projectile with deadly accuracy at least 25 yards, and weighs less than a pound including ammo?

Things To Consider When Prepping

Posted on Nov 30, 2014

With all of the talk about prepping over the last few years, I have been doing a lot of research and planning to make sure my family is going to be safe should something catastrophic occur. Zombies have become a popular theme for emergency planning. A Zombie Apocalypse simply a metaphor for a natural disaster, a crash of the economy, or even an act of terrorism like an EMP or nuclear explosion. Consensus is… If you are ready for a Zombie Apocalypse, you are ready for anything.

For some time I’ve been wanting a bolt-action .22LR for plinking and basic target practice. Especially with all of the cheap ammo out there. Much of it burns so dirty that it can be troublesome for most semi-automatics, but not with bolt or lever -actions. Not to mention the fact that they generally slow down the rate of fire which can increase accuracy and save money on ammo at the same time. Now let’s see how Ruger’s 8301 test drive went…
